The Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office (HMO) is an administrative agency of the State Council responsible for promoting cooperation and coordination of political, economic and cultural ties between mainland China and the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. According to the 2023 party and state institutional reform plan, with the arrangement of the one institution with two names, the duties of the HMO of the State Council are undertaken by the newly established Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
