Baktalórántháza is a town in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, in the Northern Great Plain region of eastern Hungary. It covers an area of 35.25 km2 (14 sq mi) and has a population of 3,987 people (2015). Baktalórántháza has been settled since the late Copper Age. The first written documents mentioning the town, called Bakta at the time, date back to 1271. The building of Castle of Bakta was ordered between 1618 and 1638 by Graf Laszlo Barkoczy.
