Magdalena is a town and municipality in the state of Jalisco in central-western Mexico. Magdalena lies 78 kilometers northwest of Guadalajara. The municipality covers an area of 293.2 km². It borders the state of Nayarit to the west, and the town of Tequila to the east. As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 18,924. The town is situated on rather high 1350 meters above sea level. It borders mountains to the north and somehow smaller hills to the south.
