Psáry is a municipality and village in Prague-West District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 4,100 inhabitants. The village of Dolní Jirčany is an administrative part of Psáry. The name has its root in the Czech word pes ("dog"). It was a village where psáři lived, or people who took care of hunting dogs. Psáry is located about 10 kilometres (6 mi) south of Prague. It lies on the border between the Prague Plateau and Benešov Uplands. The highest point is a contour line at 450 m (1,480 ft) above sea level. The Zahořanský Brook originates here and flows across the municipal territory to the west. More information...
