Jean Huber was a citizen of the independent Republic of Geneva and a deputy there in the Council of Two Hundred since 1752, where both his father and father-in-law had served as well (see Huber, Jean, in the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland), and he died well before Geneva joined Switzerland. In some biographical databases on art such as SIKART or ULAN however, his country of origin is sometimes erroneously referred to as being Switzerland.
