  • The United Nations Millennium Declaration (18 September 2000) outlined 8 goals (MDGs) to meet the needs of the world’s poorest. They range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015. Goal 7, Target 2 specifically refers to reducing by half the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water, but water provision is also key to making progress on many of the other Goals
