At Bristol, the two superimposed boxes on either side of the stage are flanked by giant Corinthian pilasters, canted away from the proscenium, and constructed with more than a mere suggestion of perspective in the lines of the box parapets and the architrave of the now incomplete entablature.”

Mark Howell has shown that, when built, Bristol's New Theatre measured 6 rods (roughly 100ft) long and 3 rods (roughly 50ft) wide, comparable with the known dimensions of Drury Lane. Also like Drury Lane, open yard space, measuring between 5 and 20ft, surrounded the New Theatre on three sides. „Theatre Royal (Bristol) – The Theatres Trust”. www.theatrestrust.org.uk.
