Babol (Persian: بابل, pronunciation (help·info), known as "Orange Blossom City" , also Romanized as Bābol; formerly known as Barfrouch) is a city in, and the capital of, the Central District of Babol County, Mazandaran province, Iran, and also serves as capital of the county. Babol is divided into two metropolitan areas (under Iranian law). At the 2006 census, its population was 198,636 in 55,943 households.
