Cambridge is a city in Furnas County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 1,063 at the 2010 census. Cambridge was originally called Pickletown, and under the latter name was laid out in the 1870s by J. W. Pickle. When the railroad was built through the settlement in 1880, the town was renamed Cambridge by railroad officials. The etymology of the name is uncertain: it may have been named after Cambridge, Massachusetts, or after Cambridge in England. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.34 square miles (3.47 km2), all land.
