Červené Janovice is a municipality and village in Kutná Hora District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 700 inhabitants. Villages of Chvalov, Lány, Plhov, Vilémovice, Zadní and Zhoř are administrative parts of Červené Janovice. Červené Janovice is located about 13 kilometres (8 mi) south of Kutná Hora and 57 km (35 mi) southeast of Prague. It lies in the Upper Sázava Hills. The territory is rich in ponds, supplied by minor watercourses. The first written mention of Červené Janovice is from 1352. It was called Janovičky up to the 18th century.
