Tokoname (常滑市, Tokoname-shi) is a city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 October 2019, the city had an estimated population of 57,872 in 24,872 households, and a population density of 1,035 persons per km². The total area of the city is 55.90 square kilometres (21.58 sq mi). Tokoname is located on the western coast of the Chita Peninsula in southern Aichi Prefecture, facing Ise Bay. Tokoname has a mayor-council form of government with a directly elected mayor and a unicameral city legislature of 18 members. The city contributes one member to the Aichi Prefectural Assembly.
