Epes /ˈɛps/ is a town in Sumter County, Alabama, United States. Initially called Epes Station, it was incorporated as Epes in 1899. At the 2010 census the population was 192, down from 206 in 2000. Epes is located near Jones Bluff, overlooking the Tombigbee River. It is located at 32°41′26″N 88°7′27″W / 32.69056°N 88.12417°W / 32.69056; -88.12417 (32.690497, -88.124182). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.9 km2), all land. The climate in this area is characterized by hot, humid summers and generally mild to cool winters.
