Clinton is a town in Kennebec County, Maine, United States. The town was named for New York Governor DeWitt Clinton. The population was 3,370 at the 2020 census. The main village in town is the Clinton census-designated place, with a population of 1,386 at the 2020 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 44.79 square miles (116.01 km2), of which 43.87 square miles (113.62 km2) is land and 0.92 square miles (2.38 km2) is water. The town is bordered by Skowhegan and Canaan on the north, Pittsfield on the northeast, Burnham on the east, Benton on the south and Fairfield on the west.
