The Cooke County Library is a public library serving the population of Cooke County, Texas. The library is located in Gainesville, Texas. The first city library in Gainesville, Texas was located in a building known as the Joe Townsley building on North Dixon Street in 1903. The XLI Club added the first collection of 400 books and it was ran by Sue McKemie, she was a volunteer that offered to keep the library open one day a week.
