Davis College (formerly Practical Bible College) is a private Baptist bible college. It is affiliated with the Baptist Convention of New York and endorsed by the Baptist Convention of Pennsylvania/South Jersey. Originally located in Johnson City, New York, the school currently offers its BRE degree at the campus of the Word of Life Bible Institute, in Pottersville, New York, with which the school has a close relationship. Davis College was founded in April 1900 by evangelist Reverend John Adelbert Davis. Rev. Davis wanted to start a school similar to his alma mater, Chicago's Moody Bible Institute. He taught the first classes at what was then known as Practical Bible School with an enrollment of around 80 to 90 students. The school's first classes were held in an upper level of a store in the Lestershire neighborhood of Johnson City In 1911, the college relocated to the former location of the White City Amusement Park, also known as Wagner Park, which had failed the previous year. It would remain at this location until 2019. More information...
