The Diocese of Lafayette in Louisiana (Latin: Dioecesis Lafayettensis, French: Diocèse de Lafayette en Louisiane), is a diocese in southern Louisiana in the United States. It is a suffragan diocese of the metropolitan Archdiocese of New Orleans. The diocese was erected by the Vatican in 1918. The diocesan cathedral is Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette. The current bishop is J. Douglas Deshotel. The Diocese of Lafayette in Louisiana encompasses the following civil parishes: St. Landry, Evangeline, Lafayette, St. Martin, Iberia, St. Mary (except Morgan City, which is part of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux), Acadia, and Vermilion.
