Dobřany (Czech pronunciation: [ˈdobr̝anɪ]; German: Dobrzan, 1939–1945: Wiesengrund) is a town in Plzeň-South District in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 6,100 inhabitants. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as urban monument zone. Villages of Šlovice and Vodní Újezd are administrative parts of Dobřany. Dobřany is located about 10 km (6 mi) south of Plzeň. It lies on the border between the Plasy Uplands and Švihov Highlands. The highest point is a hill with an altitude of 516 m (1,693 ft).
