The Minister of Small Business Development is a Minister in the Cabinet of South Africa. President Jacob Zuma announced the formation of the new Small Business Development Ministry on 25 May 2014. Its purpose was to promote and develop small businesses and co-operatives by focusing on both economic incentives and legislation so as to stimulate entrepreneurship in South Africa and transform the lives of economically disadvantaged people. In August 2012, the National Development Plan 2030 was created by the South African government and it identified small business as the key area for job creation, expecting 90% of jobs in a future economy being generated by the sector.
