Michael P. McDonald (born 1967) is an American political scientist. He is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Florida where he focuses on the United States elections. McDonald earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the California Institute of Technology and his PhD from the University of California, San Diego. Upon completing his postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard-MIT Data Center, McDonald accepted an assistant professor position at Vanderbilt University in 1999.
