Emanuel Levy is an American film critic and professor of sociology and film who has taught at Columbia University, New School for Social Research, Wellesley College, Arizona State University and UCLA Film School. He belongs to small group of scholars who have juggled a dual career, as a full-time professor and a full-time film critic. Emanuel Levy grew up in Tel Aviv, when his family emigrated to Israel from Europe. After military service, he attended Tel Aviv University, where he obtained a B.A. degree in Sociology, Anthropology and Political Science.
