The controlling shareholder was Chinese state-owned mega-conglomerate China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The company was formerly known as CASIL Telecommunications Holdings Limited; CASIL was an acronym of China Aerospace International Holdings Limited, a listed subsidiary of CASC.
