SBA covers 948 acres (384 ha) of land and has three runways. It is near the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the city of Goleta. The airport was annexed to the city of Santa Barbara by a 7-mile (11 km) long, 300-foot (90 m) wide corridor, mostly under the Pacific Ocean (a shoestring annexation).
