Frauenfeld (Alemannic: Frauefäld) is the capital of the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. The official language of Frauenfeld is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken language is the local variant of the Alemannic Swiss German dialect. Frauenfeld has an area, as of 2009, of 27.37 square kilometers (10.57 sq mi). Of this area, 12.43 km2 (4.80 sq mi) or 45.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 6.77 km2 (2.61 sq mi) or 24.7% is forested.
