The Frankfurter Verein für Luftfahrt e. V. (FVL) is a non-profit organization that is oriented towards aviation education and training. It has around 500 members and is one of the oldest air sports clubs in Germany. The association operates at two locations: The General Aviation group at Frankfurt Egelsbach Airport, the model airplane group in Diedenbergen. A glider training school at the airport Gelnhausen was closed in the 1970s. The FVL fleet includes several aircraft, from simple training aircraft such as the Cessna 150 or Diamond DA20, to full instrument rated aircraft such as Piper PA-28. Furthermore, the club has a very extensive model aircraft fleet. The club offers courses to obtain a private pilot license, as well as certifications for radiotelephony, night flight and alpine instructions, as well as pinch hitter courses.
