Fahrni is a municipality in the administrative district of Thun in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Fahrni is first mentioned in 1299 as Varne. The scattered villages that make up Fahrni were originally part of the Kyburg Herrschaft of Heimberg. In 1384 they were forced to sell most of their lands, including Fahrni, to the city of Bern. Under Bernese rule it became part of the court of Steffisburg in the Thun District. Fahrni has always been part of the parish of Steffisburg, though a filial church was built in 1951 in Rachholtern.
