Gerry Stahl is an American computer scientist specializing in computer-supported collaborative learning. He is professor emeritus of computing and informatics at Drexel University, and was the founding editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. Stahl studied philosophy and mathematics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 1967. While supporting himself with work as a systems programmer, he completed a Ph.D. in philosophy at Northwestern University in 1975, with a dissertation on the philosophy of Heidegger and Marx.
