Hostinné (German: Arnau) is a town in Trutnov District in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 4,300 inhabitants. It lies on the Elbe river. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Hostinné is located about 13 km (8 mi) west of Trutnov and 37 km (23 mi) north of Hradec Králové. It lies in the Giant Mountains Foothills. The highest point is at 465 m (1,526 ft) above sea level. The town is situated in the valley of the Elbe River. The first written mention of Hostinné is from 1270. It was founded during the reign of King Ottokar II of Bohemia, during the colonization of the upper Elbe. More information...
