Ida Margrethe Lorentzen (born December 11, 1951, in New York City ) is an American born, Norwegian artist known for her paintings of interiors of a melancholic nature. Ida Lorentzen was raised and educated in New England and Oslo. She studied at Boston University’s School of Fine Arts (1970–1974) and the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo (1974–1979). She was awarded the Hassam, Speicher, Betts, and Symons Purchase Fund from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1995 for her Room With a View, (1993) .
