Itapecerica (Portuguese pronunciation: , [itapeˈsɛɾika]) is a municipality located in the center of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. The population is 21,761 (2020 est.) in an area of 1041 km². The city belongs to the meso-region of Oeste de Minas and to the micro-region of Formiga. It was founded in 1789. Candindé, an extinct Jê language, was once spoken in the Itapecerica Valley. The city center of Itapecerica is located at an elevation of 825 meters east of Formiga and southeast of Divinópolis.
