Jirny is a municipality and village in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 3,100 inhabitants. The village of Nové Jirny is an administrative part of Jirny. Jirny is located about 9 kilometres (6 mi) east of Prague. It lies in a flat landscape of the Central Elbe Table. Návesní Pond is located in the centre of the municipality. The first written mention of Jirny is from 1350, when there was a stone fortress.
