Kriegstetten is a municipality in the district of Wasseramt in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. Kriegstetten is first mentioned in 1256 as Krechsteiten and as Kriechsteiten. Kriegstetten has an area, as of 2009, of 1.14 square kilometers (0.44 sq mi). Of this area, 0.5 km2 (0.19 sq mi) or 43.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.1 km2 (0.039 sq mi) or 8.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.53 km2 (0.20 sq mi) or 46.5% is settled (buildings or roads). Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 26.3% and transportation infrastructure made up 14.9%. Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 2.6% of the area while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 1.8%. Out of the forested land, 7.0% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.8% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees.
