L'Équipe, often called La Chaîne L'Équipe (English: L'Équipe Channel) to distinguish it from its newspaper namesake, is a French sports television channel. It launched as a basic subscription channel in 1998, under the name L'Équipe TV. In late 2012, L'Équipe TV became L'Équipe 21 and started broadcasting in high definition on France's free digital terrestrial television (DTT). It was rebranded again as just L'Équipe in September 2016. On 31 August 1998, Groupe Amaury launched a television channel spun off from its daily sports newspaper L'Équipe.
