Vyšší Brod (Czech pronunciation: [ˈvɪʃiː ˈbrot]; German: Hohenfurth) is a town in Český Krumlov District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,500 inhabitants. It is the southernmost municipality in the Czech Republic. Vyšší Brod Monastery, an important historic landmark, is located in the town. The historic town centre with the monastery complex is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. Villages of Dolní Drkolná, Dolní Jílovice, Herbertov, Hrudkov, Lachovice, Studánky and Těchoraz are administrative parts of Vyšší Brod. More information...
