The Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (Spanish: Ministerio de la Vivienda y Agenda Urbana) is a department of the Government of Spain responsible for proposing and carrying out the government policy on right to housing, buildings, urban planning, land use and architecture. This ministry existed in three different periods. The first one was during the dictatorship of Francisco Franco. The ministry was first established in 1957. The aim was to create a class of home owners, leaving renting and delayed owning as an exception. The second one during the democratic period, from 2004 to 2010, when Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero announced that the Ministry of Housing would be suppressed to reduce public spending.
