Originally named Saint-Évariste-Station, on 9 July 1949 the name was changed to La Guadeloupe. In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, La Guadeloupe had a population of 1,805 living in 814 of its 860 total private dwellings, an increase of 5.7% from its 2016 population of 1,707.
