Muralto is a municipality in the district of Locarno, in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. Muralto has an area, as of 1997, of 0.6 square kilometers (0.23 sq mi). Of this area, 0.43 km2 (0.17 sq mi) or 71.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.02 km2 (0.0077 sq mi) or 3.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.56 km2 (0.22 sq mi) or 93.3% is settled (buildings or roads) and 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 1.7% is unproductive land. Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 68.3% and transportation infrastructure made up 18.3%. while parks, green belts and sports fields made up 6.7%.
