The National Institute of Construction Management and Research (acronym NICMAR) is an Indian non profit making management institute and research centre in the field of construction engineering and management. The Institute has been recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and is headquartered at Walchand Centre, Tardeo, Mumbai, India. NICMAR was founded in 1982 as a result of a joint effort by a group of major construction companies in India headed by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) whose Chairman, Ajit Gulabchand, put forth the idea of setting up an advanced research centre in construction management.
