The Norwegian Research Centre (NORCE) is a Norwegian government-owned research institute that is majority-owned by the University of Bergen. It is one of the largest research organisations of Norway. NORCE was founded in 2017 through the merger of several university-owned research institutes and has around 900 employees. At the time of establishment the institute was fully owned by three state universities, the University of Bergen, the University of Stavanger and the University of Agder. A few other shareholders, notably including the University of Tromsø, have joined the consortium.
