Penthéréaz is a municipality in the district of Gros-de-Vaud in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Penthéréaz is first mentioned in 1141 as Panterea. Penthéréaz has an area, as of 2009, of 5.68 square kilometers (2.19 sq mi). Of this area, 3.66 km2 (1.41 sq mi) or 64.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.71 km2 (0.66 sq mi) or 30.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.31 km2 (0.12 sq mi) or 5.5% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km2 (2.5 acres) or 0.2% is either rivers or lakes. Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.5%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests.
