Petrovice (German: Petersdorf) is a municipality and village in Bruntál District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 100 inhabitants. The village is well preserved and is protected by law as a village monument zone. The name is derived from the personal name Petr. He was probably the leader of the colonizers who came here in the 13th century. Petrovice is located about 27 km (17 mi) north of Bruntál and 70 km (43 mi) north of Ostrava.
