Tiltil or Til-Til is a Chilean municipality and city, in the Chacabuco Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. Tiltil is most known for being an execution place for rebels during Chile's independence war against Spain. Manuel Rodríguez was executed in Tiltil. According to the 2002 census of the National Statistics Institute, Tiltil spans an area of 653 km2 (252 sq mi) and has 14,755 inhabitants (7,609 men and 7,146 women). Of these, 8,161 (55.3%) lived in urban areas and 6,594 (44.7%) in rural areas. The population grew by 14.9% (1,917 persons) between the 1992 and 2002 censuses. More information...
