Kawagoe (川越町, Kawagoe-chō) is a town located in Mie Prefecture, Japan. As of 1 September 2021, the town had an estimated population of 15,409 in 7021 households and a population density of 1800 persons per km². The total area of the town was 8.73 square kilometres (3.37 sq mi). Kawagoe is located in northeastern Mie Prefecture, in the lowlands bordering on Ise Bay. Parts of the municipality are polders, at (or near) sealevel. Kawagoe has a Humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) characterized by warm summers and cool winters with light to no snowfall. The average annual temperature in Kawagoe is 14.9 °C. The average annual rainfall is 1656 mm with September as the wettest month.
