Tyler Micoleau is an American lighting designer, known for his work on Broadway musicals such as his Tony-nominated lighting designs for The Band's Visit, for which he won the 2018 Tony Award for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, and Buena Vista Social Club. Micoleau is from Portland, Maine, where he atteded Deering High School graduating in 1987. After high school, Micoleau enrolled in Bowdoin College with a self-designed major in theatre with an emphasis on stage design in 1987. While there, he worked as a production facilities caretaker at the college, where he found a passion for lighting and first worked with Maine State Music Theatre. He ventured out west to live with his artist uncle in 1989, where he was further inspired to pursue a career in the arts. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in 1991.
