Vernaison (French pronunciation: ) is a commune in the Metropolis of Lyon in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in eastern France. The city is located south of Lyon, on the right bank of the Rhône, facing several islands in the river. Inhabitants of Vernaison are called Vernaisonnais. In 1153 Vernaison (Veyrneyson) was noted for the first time in a written document.
