Wanatah is a town in LaPorte County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,048 at the 2010 census. The first settlements were made at Wanatah in the 1850s when the railroad was extended to that point. Wanatah was platted in 1865. It was named for Wanata, a Native American leader. Wanatah is located at 41°25′47″N 86°53′55″W / 41.42972°N 86.89861°W / 41.42972; -86.89861 (41.429648, -86.898498).
