The West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust (WMAS) is responsible for providing NHS ambulance services within the West Midlands region of England. It is one of ten ambulance trusts providing England with emergency medical services, and is part of the National Health Service. The West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust (WMAS) provides a 999 emergency medical response service for the counties of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, the seven boroughs of the West Midlands metropolitan county and combined authority area: Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Walsall and Wolverhampton, and the unitary authorities of Stoke-on-Trent and Telford & Wrekin. The trust also provides non-emergency patient transport services in Birmingham, the Black Country, Arden, Cheshire and the Wirral. The contract for Worcestershire, which had been run by the ambulance service for 30 years, ended in March 2020 when it lost out to a private provider.
