Contrary to expectations, the PDP primaries in Niger State was concluded peacefully with winners emerging amid an upset in Niger South and East. There was contest in Niger East and South while the candidate of Niger North emerged unopposed in an affirmation that took place in Kontagora. In Niger North, referred to as Zone C, Abdullahi Shehu, a seasoned administrator, emerged unopposed. In Niger East (zone B) PDP senatorial primary Ibrahim Isyaku (SAN), a senior lawyer, got 277 votes to emerge winner. He defeated a former House of Representatives member, Engr Muktar Ahmed who got 25 votes. In Niger South, referred to as zone A, Hon. Peter Ndalikali got 125 votes defeating a former majority leader in the House Representatives, Hon. Baba Shehu, who got 78 votes and Senator Mustapha Wadada who got 61 votes.
In Osun West, ex chairman, Irewole local government, Mr. Lere Oyewumi, emerged winner of the ticket at the primary held in Iwo. He contested against Mr. Peter Babalola.
The duo of Bamidele and Adaramodu were elected unopposed and affirmed by the delegates at the primaries held in Aramoko-Ekiti and Ikere-Ekiti respectively, while Fasuyi defeated the incumbent, Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi to clinch the Ekiti North senatorial ticket. Reacting, Bamidele said returning him unopposed as the party's candidate represented highest regard and respect that he won't take for granted.
Meanwhile, both Governor Samuel Ortom and incumbent Senator Gabriel Suswam also secured the tickets of the party to represent Benue North West and Benue North-East Senatorial Districts respectively.
