During a lull in firing Alan (Taff) Williams was doing some work on one of our trenches when he heard a noise, on popping his head up over the top of the trench he was confronted by three guys two of them carrying another. When they saw a disembodied head appear and challenge them they dropped everything and shouted: "For f*#ks sakes don't shoot!" Taff in his usual casual manner said "what's up boys?" to which three very relived men approached and told him they had been dropped off by chopper on a recce on mount Kent, as soon as the chopper left they came under artillery fire and one was quite badly hit so they withdrew sharpish. Luckily they stumbled onto us quite quickly, Taff showed them the way to the CP so they injured guy could receive attention & be casevaced out.Commando Gunner Regroup
