Watched by independent testers and a Guinness Book of Records representative, Bugatti test driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel recorded two runs in opposite directions, reaching 427.933 km/h (265.905 mph) and 434.211 km/h (269.806 mph) respectively. The new record is an average of the two.
