Despite Reika being created by the international team, Sakuda says "I felt that fewer (international) users understood Reika's appeal, compared to Japanese users." Unlike DOAXVV's more bubbly and straight-forward characters, Reika seems aloof and distant at first. "On the other hand, Reika's appeal in that she is 'difficult,' as in it takes time to get to know her, immediately struck a chord with Japanese players." explains Sakuda. This is probably due in part to how often the tsundere character type appears in Japanese anime and dramas.
Tamaki, for example, is another character who seems to be popular in every region.
What's perhaps most amusing about this though is that Koei's new habit for Dead or Alive seems to be taking virtual idols and making "Dead or Alive"-style replicas of them in its games. Honoka, of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round fame onwards (she also appears in Xtreme 3 and Venus Vacation) is explicitly based on Love Live's Honoka. Tamaki, meanwhile, is pretty obviously Kaede from the Idolm@ster series. It's the hair that gives it away.
Along with that, the game's newest character, Tamaki, will be releasing to arcade versions of the title soon.
Other girls from Koei Tecmo's game also feature in Destiny Child as Soul Carta illustrations: Kokoro, Misaki, Luna, Nyotengu, Tamaki, and Ayane.
Tamaki is a 22 year-old fashion designer who enjoys bouldering, yoga, and bar hopping, and whose favorite things include macaroons, carbonated water, and alcohol.
While working, Misaki was approached by a woman who asked her to make sexy poses. As the excitement builds and she reaches out to remove Misaki's top... You break in to save Misaki from embarrassment, but the woman is unfazed by your actions. She then asks nonchalantly if you'll take her as your partner.
